Blackpool Panthers 12 - Doncaster 54
Having had a difficult game on
Good Friday and having sustained a number of
injuries, the team put a spirited performance
against a team, who will be expecting to return to
the higher flight at the first attempt. Perhaps it
was a case of “keeping an eye on Ellery Hanley” but
not fully realising that the legend of Rugby League
is now only the coach of Doncaster, and once his
players had crossed the whitwash, there was little
he could achieve.
Kyle Briggs notched 22 points as Doncaster passed
the 50 point mark for the second time in four days.
The “Dons” who had smashed London Skolars 56-0 on
Good Friday set about making light work of Martin
Crompton’s men from the first whistle. Hanley’s men
raced into a 24-0 half time lead in as many minutes
but, to their credit, the Panthers fought back to
reduce the deficit to a respectable 24-12 deficit at
halftime.
However, the League two hopefuls pulled away in the
second half, leaving the Panthers still searching
for their first victory. Even when down to 12 men
for the last 25 minutes, Panthers could not prevent
further scores from the Dons, the class told in the
end.
