This week we saw the return of the Blackpool NHS health week, this year for the first time the Blackpool Panthers linked with Blackpool NHS to put on the First Touch Competition. The Event was held at Stanley Park on Wednesday 17th of June.
The competition was a huge success with four teams battling it out to be crowned Touch Champions, the game of touch is an exciting and fast game which can be played by everyone as shown last night as players from rugby league to rugby union and even the Blackpool master all trying their hand at touch rugby.

On Thursday 20th and Thursday 27th of May the Blackpool Sport partnership and the Blackpool Panthers held a succession of rugby league tournaments. The first of which was a tag tournament for the primary schools, four primary schools took part in the highly skilled event where Roseacre, Waterloo, Stanley and Our lady’s each played three exciting games of tag rugby league. The schools played in a merit league where the competition was hard fought with every team displaying excellent skills but it was the unbeaten Roseache who finished top.

A fantastic day of Rugby League was held on Sunday in Blackpool. Blackpool Panthers staged their 1st Primary School TAG tournament before their home match against Gateshead Thunder. There were over 40 participates taking part. The Grand Final was between Stanley Primary v St Cuthbets Primary. After a hard fort final the winner was Stanley Primary to clinch the tournament title 3-2.
Two other Blackpool School teams entered Roseacre and Our Lady’s Primary.

Community Camp Easter 2010 |

The Blackpool Panthers held an Easter Holiday Community Rugby Camp at South Shore Cricket Club Home of Blackpool Scorpions. The Camp was a great success with over 20 children taking part. The kids really enjoyed themselves and learnt kicking, passing and tackling skills.
The kids each received a free goody bag with Season Ticket and a Panthers training top inside. Panthers would like to say a big thank you to sponsors Subway and NHS for helping make the camp a success.

Dave Best is requiring surgery on his damaged shoulder and is likely to out of the team for some 3 months, we wish him a speedy recovery. Long term injuries to Lee Marsh and Aaron Miller are prcgessing slowly and their return to action is eagerly awaited. Martin Ainscough (injured in the cup game) and Casey Mayberry should be available for the Swinton game as should Andy Hobson, all carrying nigling hamstring injuries. |
