There were over 40 participates taking part. The Grand Final was between Stanley Primary v St Cuthbets Primary. After a hard fort final the winner was Stanley Primary to clinch the tournament title 3-2.
Two other Blackpool School teams entered Roseacre and Our Lady’s Primary.
Blackpool Panthers staged their 2nd College Super 9s rugby league tournament at Stanley Park, with over 70 participates taking part. It was a repeat of last year’s Grand Final between Blackpool Sixth From and Blackburn College St Mary’s. The result wasn’t the same as Blackburn College St Mary’s defeated Blackpool Sixth Form RL team 22-10 to clinch the tournament title.
Four other Lancashire college teams entered were Blackpool Sixth Form RU, Blackpool and the Fylde College, Runshaw RL and Runshaw RU.
In the first semi-final Blackpool Sixth Form RL defeated Runshaw RU 22-20, with a last minute try from Brett Whitehead to draw level and a winning conversion from Matthew Egan. In the second semi-final Runshaw RL lost to the winner of the competition Blackburn St Mary’s College 16-20.
Blackpool Panthers would like to say thanks to all the Players and teachers from the colleges who took part and made the event a really success.
